[senit] interactive overlay issues

We have a standalone PC, with a touchscreen monitor, which has been connected to a plasma screen with a touch overlay and working quite nicely for some time.  Anyway, it now appears to have an intermittent fault, which comes and goes, but sometimes comes for long periods, whereby the cursor on the screen gets stuck, and cannot be moved or clikced on via mouse/touchscreen/smart overlay.  I think the problem must be with the overlay, or the driver software or the lead, as I have tried connecting it to a laptop and the problem is, albeit intermittently, replicated. I feel like I have spent a fair few person-hours on this over the last few weeks, and am no wiser.

Any suggestions, or even just sympathy gratefully received.
