There are a number of websites with specialised collections.
http://www.peepo.co.uk/sound/ being but one...

it seems at least possible that the issue of finding the resources is  
the problem...
google has filetype:mp3 but that doesn't appear to use the filename,  
but rather text in the page.

metadata should help resolve this aspect, if there were a suitable  
format.
unfortunately I'm not aware of a means of embedding metadata in  
speech sound files.
midi has this ability but isn't suitable for speech.
SVG provides this possibility for images.

hi to speed up making resources it would be handy to
have a cd of good quality recorded speech, say the
first thousand words (common words) read out in
ideally male and female voices . eg in wav or mp3
format.as a data cd ie a separate file for each word.
has anyone come across such a resource?
