We've been quite pleasantly impressed with the way the Voice Activation/Speech Recognition works within Microsoft Vista. The operating system itself sure needs the tweakings of that first Service Pack (still to come) but the "Say what You See" system has worked well for a variety of users. Of course the age of the students matters. For the youngest I'd still suggest trying SpeakQ from the WordQ people in Canada. Above secondary you still might find Dragon superior because you can pre-buy the complex vocabularies. Others on the list will have other ideas.
