Interesting discussion - I think Sally's got a good point in noting  
Becta's Self-Review framework.

For what it's worth, I'd agree with Deborah that there is an issue  
about leadership involvement. I think it's sound practice for the  
school leadership team to have a close overview of how ICT is  
incorporated across the curriculum, in just the same way as as it  
makes sense for them to oversee that physical development such as  
basic functional motor skills and positioning, and Language and  
Communication skills are embedded in daily practice of staff,  
irrespective of the classwork that's going on.

I'm sure most people who are the ICT coordinators in schools would  
love to have a complete focus on developing their area in the  
curricular sense, rather than having to field all of the technical  
issues, the repairs and maintenance, and so on. I suppose it all  
depends on how that role has been defined in the school - if it's  
treated equally with other curriculum coordinator roles then surely  
the priority should be curricular, and the recognition of the  
technical demands of the role would lead to the need to have  
technician support. And of course, as both Deborah and David make  
clear, staff training is one of those sidelines of the typical ICT  
coordinator that is perhaps more unique to this role than most other  
coordinator roles.
