Treloar college has been awarded money by TecDis to develop an e portfolio for students with physical disabilities and learning disabilities working at Pre and Entry level. We are focusing on a transition planning document using Powerpoint after attending the Launch of Hampshire's E portfolio. We have a consultant coming for the day and at the end we hope to have designed a template suitable for our students who are aged from 16-23. It will capture personal details, achievements, experiences, likes and dislikes. Pictures and video will be used alot with all students but not curriculum attainments other than areas where students realise they need help- care, money time etc Why did we decide on Powerpoint...evidence from Hampshire suggested Powerpoint being widely used in the area, easily transferable and updateable and the programme available in most educational settings and the home. Hopefully residential placements will follow suit. My entry level students have a good understanding of using Powerpoint and can therefore personalise their own presentations. There are loads of packages available now targeting mainstream contexts, but we're really keen to hear from anyone in special/specialist setting who has experience of an eportfolio system good or bad - which they've used with older students for recording achievement, evidencing assessment, transition planning and the like. I know several posters here have developed their own systems in-house using DVDs, PPT etc and am wondering (particularly with the Gov push towards efolio) whether this is as a direct result of not finding suitable packages. Not looking for a huge amount of detail - just 'we use so-and-so because its brilliant' or 'tried so-and-so but it didn't meet our needs because....' Direct email rather than to the list is fine.
