Article: [senit] social interaction via technology

We found this with AWEDU and Active Worlds as precursors to Second Life

The philosophy in virtual worlds of no limitations appeals to many
disabled users as they don't have to talk about their disability in the
VW but instead can concentrate on socialising

On the other hand some disabled users want to create disabled avatars to
reflect themselves and their perception of disabled culture within a VW

It's a fascinating technical and sociological area

Slightly OT but I did read an article about how liberating
physically 'disabled' people find 'Second Life'. It is a
world where they can walk (and even fly!) around and
interact with others on a completely equal footing.
