Hello everyone, There are two announcements for you this week. Have a good weekend Ann McDevitt, Co-Moderator SENIT Independent IT and SEN Consultant ann at mcdevitt.gotadsl.co.uk --------------------------------------------------------- Alison writes: New MyBoard software from Inclusive Technology makes it easy for teachers to create all sorts of activities with pictures and text. Ideal for the whiteboard, plasma screen or touch monitor, MyBoard can also be used on a computer using a mouse. There are lots of easy-to-use tools and resources for making motivating activities across the curriculum. Create a sorting game for teaching shapes, spelling or number bonds - anything! Make your own sorting and sequencing activities, literacy games, numeracy tasks, 3D construction sets, colouring books, dot-to-dots, board games, design and technology activities, maps, circuit diagrams and all sorts of scenes to promote creative play. Lots of sample activities and over 2,000 pictures included. The software has a choice of simple tool sets that are ideal for including learners with special needs. The sizing and positioning tools are really easy to use great for whiteboards and clumsy fingers! For details see www.inclusive.co.uk. ------------------------------------------------------- Kevin writes: Clicker 5 Training Clicker 5 Introduction June 3rd Longton City Learning Centre, Stoke-on-Trent This course covers the main features of the program including writing support and talking books. It looks at using, editing and creating Clicker 5 activities for a variety of purposes and to meet the needs of pupils of different ages and abilities. We also look at using the LearningGrids.com - a website with hundreds of free Clicker 5 resources. Clicker 5 Advanced April 24th Islington City Learning Centre. London April 30th Sheffield North City Learning Centre, Sheffield This course concentrates on the multimedia features of Clicker 5 including the use of photographs, recorded sounds and video. It shows how to create interactive multimedia books with hotspots and hyperlinks. The session also covers the creation of multiple choice activities that can be used in a variety of ways. (Please note that the course for 24th April was arranged before the announcement of the NUT strike action and will go ahead.) Clicker 5 for Bilingual Resources May 22nd Crick House, Northampton June 3rd Islington City Learning Centre. London This course looks at how the program can be used to create materials in languages other than English. Delegates will create talking books in language combinations of English with Welsh, Punjabi and Arabic. The same techniques can be applied to any other language. Dont worry you dont need to have knowledge of these languages! We will also investigate ways in which Clicker 5 can be used to help learners acquire vocabulary to help their understanding of English. During the Bilingual Resources sessions we will also demonstrate the New to English materials that can be purchased for use with Clicker 5. This set of three CDs is designed to help pupils at the early stages of English language learning. The Advanced and Bilingual Resources courses are aimed at those with some knowledge of Clicker 5. Places on any of the courses can be reserved at £120 per person. This includes refreshments, lunch and a copy of the appropriate training booklet.
