Article: [senit] digital portfolios

Hi

I am jumping into the middle of this conversation so if anything doesn't
quite fit, please forgive.

I agree with _some _of what David says.

I teach ICT at Pebble Brook School, (Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire) which has
upwards of 50 MLD pupils.

It turns out Buckinghamshire Primary schools have been the more enthusiastic
and prodigious of creators within the marvellous local authority Moodle
implementation. You are probably aware that Moodle is a Free and Open Source
VLE. My son (age 9) loves the Moodle learning website at his school.

I am completing an M-level course in e-pedagogy and developing something for
our pupils as a test of principle. I am reporting progress this summer that
I envisage will be positive -- and that should include data from pupils and
senior management.

If anyone is interested I would be pleased to share Moodle course(s) and/or
snippets that would naturally be aimed at and focussed on our pupils'
needs. Pehaps the best way to do that would be a separate course area
without pupils on our school Moodle website -- alternativley I set something
else up on a separate site. Either way -- I will give it some thought and
probably put the most sensible option into place over the summer holidays.

I am serious about the _sharing_ -- no charge here -- I would hope to gain
from the feedback from anything people were able to take away and use.

Also, on the basis that I believe in giving credit to sources, I first heard
the idea of sharing courses from Ian Usher (Bucks CC e-learning coordinator)
who has set up sharing for all Bucks schools on the BucksGfL website (
http://www.bucksgfl.org.uk). Obviously, some or all of that will not be
available outside of BucksGfL connected schools.

Finally I know that Ian has been doing some work incorporating symbols
(forget which ?) into moodle for other special schools in the county. If
anyone is interested in that I would gladly pass their email onto Ian, but I
know he is very busy and working hard for us in Bucks :-)

Regards,

Joc
