Hi all, Sorry, am playing catch up with my SNIT emails at the moment, but thought that I should alert you to a project currently underway. Apologies if this has already been mentioned. Four Specialist Colleges (Portland College, National Star College, NCYPE and Oakwood Court) recently received JISC/TechDis Innovation 2 funding to develop e-portfolio systems. As a result we are working alongside the Rix Centre and also with colleges that received JISC/TechDis Kickstart funding for similar purposes (Bridge, RNCB Hereford and Treloar) to develop an accessible e-portfolio system for our learners. As you can imagine, producing a system to meet the needs of such a diverse group of learners (and staff) will be a challenge, but also one which will hopefully result in a highly-flexible and accessible system. The end product will be open source and therefore free to use and develop accordingly. Further information will be available soon at: www.techdis.ac.uk/community Best wishes, Matt Matt Harrison Research and Technology Development Manager Portland College -----Original Message----- From: senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of David Banes Sent: 23 April 2008 08:45 To: senit at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: Re: [senit] digital portfolios Moodle is definitely worth exploring and make sure you take a good look at the plugins that support it - we use it as the basis of our elearning site and it allows learners to store a great deal of personal files such as journal/blog etc David Banes Director of Development ________________________________ Tel: +44 (0)1908 314 736 Mob: +44 (0)7989 409287 Web: http://www.abilitynet.org.uk Fax: +44 (0)870 160 6824 AbilityNet P.O. Its open source but you might benefit from having a host who knows the ins and outs of it - this is our way of operating. It would be possible to combine with other schools and create different areas for each school or cohort. I'd definitely recommend having a look at it!
