Hi all,

Sorry, am playing catch up with my SNIT emails at the moment, but
thought that I should alert you to a project currently underway.
Apologies if this has already been mentioned.

Four Specialist Colleges (Portland College, National Star College, NCYPE
and Oakwood Court) recently received JISC/TechDis Innovation 2 funding
to develop e-portfolio systems. As a result we are working alongside
the Rix Centre and also with colleges that received JISC/TechDis
Kickstart funding for similar purposes (Bridge, RNCB Hereford and
Treloar) to develop an accessible e-portfolio system for our learners.

As you can imagine, producing a system to meet the needs of such a
diverse group of learners (and staff) will be a challenge, but also one
which will hopefully result in a highly-flexible and accessible system.
The end product will be open source and therefore free to use and
develop accordingly.

Further information will be available soon at:
www.techdis.ac.uk/community

Best wishes,

Matt

Matt Harrison
Research and Technology Development Manager
Portland College

Moodle is definitely worth exploring and make sure you take a good look
at the plugins that support it - we use it as the basis of our elearning
site and it allows learners to store a great deal of personal files such
as journal/blog etc

Hi there

Although we're doing this in a slightly different environment we're
making great use of Moodle for student records.

Its open source but you might benefit from having a host who knows the
ins and outs of it - this is our way of operating.

It would be possible to combine with other schools and create different
areas for each school or cohort.

I'd definitely recommend having a look at it!

could look at. It seems strange to be using
paper-based ROAs in this day and age!
