Wouldn't advise Dida as we have been running it for a couple of years. The workload involved seems ok but students lose out on simple stuff because at the end of the day they don't showcase it right(e-portfolio) then poor results. We had students who were more than ICT capable but lost stupid marks because didn't include all 6 plans or reviewing wasn't upto scratch or didn't add feedback. There is an awful lot of work involved for little reward. -----Original Message----- From: senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk] On Behalf Of Ian Butterworth Sent: 13 February 2008 09:44 To: senit at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: [senit] ICT Qualifications Hi Does anyone have any ideas for ICT qualifications that would be suitable for a year 9 boy choosing his options? He is severely athetoid and has communication difficulties which severely limit his computer access and recording speed. He attends mainstream school and is academically capable of following a GCSE ICT curriculum. The difficulty lies with completing the volume of work within the time allowed alongside the range of other subjects he wants to study. Any suggestions for other appropriate qualifications he might pursue? Asdan Key Skills ICT springs to mind [level 3?] or ECDL or Dida? Thanks Ian Ian Butterworth |
