[senit] eLCs

Barry,

On January 11th 2007 I sent a letter to all CEO's in Local Authorities which outlined the situation regarding eLC's for 2007-08.
The letter was also posted on the Curriculum Online website at:

We have had several enquiries here in the Curriculum Online office regarding allocation of eLC's and so I can only assume that not everyone has received this information.

Future funding for content/software
The Curriculum Online project has provided ring-fenced funding of more than £500 million since it began in 2001 and, once the eLC funding comes to an end in August 2008, many people will wonder where the funding will come from for future purchases. In fact, funding for the purchase of digital learning content will continue to be available via the Harnessing Technology Grant.

I heard eLCs have come to an end and the new ICT
funding (standards grands etc)will be able to be used
more flexibly, though whether it will be ringfenced
