Subject: [senit] Notices and announcements

Hello everyone,

I hope that many of you were able to get to BETT and found at least one
thing that was new, exciting and could make a difference to the pupils
you
support. There is only one announcement for you this week, from Carolyn
Gifford (Carolyn.gifford at becta.org.uk) about the Ask the Expert section
of
the Inclusion Site. (http://inclusion.ngfl.gov.uk/index.php?i=1 )

It's a new year, a new slate, so can I put in a plea to members to send
all
announcements, notices, job adverts and similar to me first, please? I
promise to include them in that week's announcements bulletin. I hope
you
don't think I am being picky but this is one of the guidelines for the
group
and was agreed because members did not like getting odd notices every
few
days. Many people said that they only had time to look at the SENIT
emails
once a week and that they preferred to have all such emails bundled
together
so they could deal with them in one fell swoop.

OK, moan over, and I can wish you all a good weekend, despite the
weather? I
shall be breaking out my wellies, as the river at the bottom of the hill
is
flooded (again). However all clouds have a silver lining and the awful
weather means that I won't feel so bad about spending time on the
computer
instead of going for a healthy walk, digging the garden etc.

Ask the experts about.Special schools of the future

The Inclusion website has launched a new theme for its Ask the Experts
feature - on special schools of the future. Over the next 15 years,
every
secondary school and half of primary schools in England will be rebuilt
or
refurbished, including special schools. Do we have a vision of special
schools of the future? How inclusive will education be?

Three experts are on hand: Sally Paveley (ICT/SEN Consultant at The
Advisory
Unit), Bernard Gummett (Headteacher
of George Hastwell School, Cumbria), and John Galloway (Advisory Teacher
for
ICT/SEN and Inclusion in Tower Hamlets).

Ask the Experts is on Inclusion at
