I may have entered this rather late.... industrial strength velcro? -----Original Message----- From: senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk [mailto:senit-bounces at lists.becta.org.uk]On Behalf Of Imogen Wedgewood Sent: 13 July 2008 16:10 To: senit at lists.becta.org.uk Subject: Re: [senit] Switches with no auditory feedback that can't be thrown Thanks Richard, no Big Macs aren't an option. Purpose built boards with switches and wires hidden/embedded are the way the school has currently gone, but then they're so rigidly fixed down that the entire board (and of course switch) doesn't get removed as often as it needs to be by class staff...hence the aforementioned difficulties. I guess I'm looking for a way of clamping/ fixing down a switch (flat, in front of the pupil - so no mounting arm type equipment) that is very firm whilst in use but also easily removed by staff...just thought I'd ask the SENIT collective wisdom to see if there is anything new in the market that has solved similar problems for others...a more off the shelf solution... You can use bigmacs as computer switches, but in my experience they don't work very well (as computer switches) and this would appear to increase the auditory feedback from the switch (which probably isn't what you want).
