Thanks all for your responses so far - it's very helpful indeed and yes,
David, this kind of scenario does add complications in terms of
compatibility with particular pieces of software or platforms.

The learner is using Autodesk AutoCAD 2007, by the way, apparently, if
that helps anyone with recommendations.

Its interesting that as applications become more complex such as CAD so
the need for a higher end AT becomes more apparent

I would often turn to Dolphin products where the user is likely to be
dependent on the product such as needing to get essays written or in the
workplace if for no better reason than their after sales support is
first rate

I guess the question also raises the need for accurate assessment of
needs against the tasks that need to be done - not simply the need for a
magnifier as a result of the problems encountered generally in using a
computer - integration with the platform and the tasks to be completed
is often critical

You'd have to experiment. Try http://www.issist.com/index.asp?page=home
for
a cheap option, or some of the more mainstream options:

Hi all,

I don't know if anyone can help me but we have a visually-impaired
learner
here who is studying Computer Aided Design. Unfortunately the Windows
magnifier available through Accessibility Options is not compatible with
the
CAD software. Does anyone know of anything else that may work?

Many thanks,

Matt
