In media studies, what you suggest is great, but I would like to use music more across the curriculum, in ICT ways.On the lgfl are some "maths raps", thus covering content and pop style. Most maths rhymes/songs are too young for secondary students with SLD.Nikki Davies does some great cd songs for the curriculum, but they aren't really poppy and are aimed at primary. In primary SLD classes there is often a song for everything;in secondary there isn't .In quest life story videos (RE) there are some pop songs covering "issues". I would use a balance of curric related songs & straight pop songs in materials made in powerpoint/switchitmaker/clicker for example. I just need more of the curric related songs, much in the way that games style programs, could be useful in education. For the student's recreation , or where extreem motivation is needed straight pop is fine.
